predictions, thoughts, and theories!
I am guessing that the title alludes to Fionna and Huntress as Fionna wears her rabbit hat and Huntress has leaves for her hair. The title reminds me of old folktales, like the tortoise and the rabbit! I wonder if it hints at how Fionna and Huntress may operate in different ways to succeed. Such as Fionna being a hare who is sporadic and chaotic while Huntress being a sprout who focuses steadily and calmly.
I LOVED how the show opened with Astrid narrating her cute hand drawn pictures of Fionna and Cakes adventures from season 1. And I am so happy to see Simon spending time with Marceline and PB!
Fionna is seen waking up again after Astrid says she lived happily ever after. Perhaps marking the beginning of a new story! When she shuts of her radio from hearing more about DF Flame, she turns on her TV which shows Cheers. But the snail infront of the tv also caught my eye, as it reminds me of the snail back in Adventure Time that got possessed by the Lich. I wonder if it will have any significance here or if it is just a callback to the show?
Fionna flips through all of the channels that depicts a mundane world and stops at one showing an epic fantasy adventure. Which looks like one of the clips shown back int he teaser trailer when she was fighting off other knights in front of a gazebo! The fantasy channel she flipped to shows the exact same setting shown in the trailer as well. Could this be another world she will go to for this season?
Fionna goes to her window and calls out to Cake who is living in her own apartment! Yes girl!!!! And we are seen how the town is being rebuilt after they were attacked by the scarab. The building parts that were destroyed are now adorned with mosaic patterns, green houses, and restorations that add more color and character! Fionna goes around to different stores to get things for items on her list. She is also reminded of her poor work history but carries on, trying to get every single item throughout the day.
While the people of the city seem to adore Fionna and Cake, only Queenie shows her disdain for Fionna. She refers to Fionna as more destruction and a deadbeat. Even thought Fionna reminds her that she saved her, Queenie is not impressed. She then angers Fionna, which shows insight to how Fionna may be feeling after saving her world.
A cute moment is seen between Cake and Monoicorn!! I love their character design being a direct parallel to Lady Rainicorn and how the story of how they got together may be seen in this season as we never got to see how Jake and Lady Rainicorns story began!
I wonder if the green haired lady who took the fancy cocoa alludes to a plot point in the future? How Fionna is trying to be helpful for her friends but meets someone who tries to use her kindness to their advantage but Fionna doesn’t let them?
It is so nice to see that Fionna and Cake are keeping in touch with Simon!!! He puts an orange on choose gooses gravestone, which then is taken by a lion. It was so cool to see Huntress Wizards powers in action as she shape shifts into a tree branch, and moves underground to chase the lion and even uses her magical arrows. She jumps over a broken down aircraft which looks like the own Fionna and Astrid used to find Cake. Maybe showing the passage of time of how long it has been since Fionna saved her world.
Huntress Wizard finds Finn who is injured and taken care of by the forest animals. Back in Fionnas world, it is told that Fionna procrastinated on getting the items needed for Garys Sweet Spot until that very day. Could she have held off on her errands because she did not want to be reminded by every one of her poor work history? Does it show how even though she saved her world, she still has trouble getting her own life back in order?
Hunter takes care of Fionnas scratched up hand and Huntress Wizard is also seen tending to Finns big wound on his back. It was so interesting to see Huntress making healing potions in her forest lair. Ultimately she has to wake him up, asking what hurt him. Finn wakes up and murmurs Ice King. And she swiftly heads over to Simon who is teaching at the WizArts! From Distant Lands!!!!!
There is a transition to Fionna fighting off enemies above a very high tower. Has she fallen asleep watching the fantasy tv channel? As she slays all of her foes, it is revealed she had killed her friends instead, the tower is hit by a large forces and Fionna wakes up to Garys amazing and cozy new Sweet Spot being locked away and taken over by Queenie, who is actually the property owner of where they decided to build Garys new shop as well as Marshalls living quarters.
HW learns that Finn was hurt by the heart of the forest and heads to the thorn bush. The episode ends with her being stalked by the bear that hurt Finn
So I have horribly procrastinated on making this page. I know the first episode has finally aired today but I have held off on watching it because I want to keep the promise I made with myself to write out my thoughts and predictions for the show.
Upon rewatching the trailer, it looks like the show takes place directly after the scarab has been defeated and the city is working on rebuilding their scarab-damaged infrastructure as seen by a large banner saying Scarab Damage Relief- Apply Now!.
Although the townspeople think positively of Fionna after she has saved their world, she still seems unfulfilled after returning back to her normal life. While everyone else is adjusting well back to their normal routines, Fionna still does not feel like she belongs and she still wishes she were an adventurer. Even her old boss seems to notice this as she says to her The simpletons of this city might love you for now, but deep down, you know you are a true loser.
The next clip shows Fionna and Cake in a mausoleum with a lying statue of a fish person? She also finally meets older Finn!!! I am so excited to see how the two will interact and if Finn will remember Fionna and Cake as Ice Kings old creations.
Next, Huntress is shown. Hunter? As they are referred as a he by forest mages that seem to look similar to Hunters appearance with their leaves as hair and branches as limbs. Also, someone is tied to a tree…Hunters mentor? An antagonist? Another forest mage? They say that something catastrophic could happen as if they are warning Hunter from the forest mages.
Are the mages trying to warp reality? Have they learned of Fionna and Cakes world being canonized and want to create their own worlds through loopholes or dark measures? Hunter seems to be in a forest with mountains of corpses that seem to allude to the doings of the forest mages as they rip the trees of the ground using their magic.
Hunter seems to have slipped into Fionna and Cakes world. His hair has changed color, does it normally change with the seasons? Or does it indicate how he is affected by not being in his original reality? Fionna takes Hunters appearance as a call back to adventuring through the multiverse again with joy and will gladly help him out. She refers to herself as a hero and feel responsible for the wellbeing of her friends.
We are back in Ooo with Princess Bubblegum and Marceline!!! PB seems to be scolding someone how something is not real, that it is a fairy tale. Could this allude to something Fionna can accomplish instead?
We also see Fionna and Baby Finn again with PBs tank! There is also a Princess Invasion happening according to one of the Banana Guards as PBs Candy Kingdom is being under attack by the berry people. PB says We need to keep the peoples spirits up or there could be panic across multiple kingdoms.Do the forest mages have anything to do with this? Have they leaked their dark magic doings to affect Ooo and sap the resources of other kingdoms which led to conflict? Or are they angry because Ooo is under attack and PB is failing to protect everyone successfully?
Hunter is seen being magically transported. Almost as if he is astral traveling. Fionna is seen fiercely battling cosmic prisoners and protecting a gazebo. What is inside? The cosmic owl is seen being freed. Who trapped them?? The mages? The cosmic criminals? Fionna is seen working with the other Finns in order to restore balance to other worlds. In the last clip, they seem to in the time room where little clock people are fleeing from danger.
Overall. I AM SO EXCITED TO WATCH THE FIRST EPISODE!!! I wonder if Fionna will return back to her world after her adventure with Hunter ends or if she will decide to be a multidimensional hopping hero?
